Cerulean Blue - This is the first recording from the Laura Klein/Ted Wolff duo, released in 2009. Initially inspired by the Gary Burton/Chick Corea collaborations, we've developed an exciting, lyrical and highly interactive style of our own. The gorgeous, unique sound of vibes and piano has been described as "ear candy" and this recording is rich with sonic beauty. There are originals by Ted and myself, a hard driving rendition of Kenny Barron's "Voyage", a beautiful performance of J.J. Johnson's "Lament", a gospelly version of Wayne Shorter's "Aung San Suu Kyi", and more. Go to CDBaby or use this email address to order a copy. Click on MP3 samples:

FivePlay - Reunites the Triceratops composing team of Tony Corman, Dave Tidball and me, backed by the stellar rhythm section of drummer Alan Hall and bassist Paul Smith. The quintet plays original jazz, from lyrical to funky, modern dissonances to straight ahead swing. It's rooted in the best jazz traditions while drawing on modern harmonies, rhythms, and tone colors, with lots of exciting interplay among the musicians. To hear clips and order the first CD (released in 2010 on Auraline Records), go to CDBaby. To read more about the band, go to the FivePlay web site.

triceratops cd

Triceratops was a three-horned band that performed all original music by Tony Corman, Dave Tidball, and myself. Many of the Bay Area's finest musicians came through the band during those years; the lineup on the CD is: Tony on saxes and flutes, Dave on saxes and clarinets, Dave Eshelman, trombone, Dan Seamans, bass, Alan Hall, drums, and myself on piano. Our appearances included the Cotati Jazz Festival, KCSM's Jazz on the Hill Festival, Yoshi's, Stanford Jazz, Pacifica Performances, Kimball's, Kuumbwa, and SF Performances.. We were featured on Bud Spangler's "Sunday Night Suites" series on KCSM-FM, got national airplay and numerous good reviews. "Backed by a champion rhythm team - Laura Klein (piano), Alan Hall (drums) and Dan Seamans (bass) - the three-horn front line invades ten better-than-Messenger-like originals, providing captivating moments for listeners." -JazzTimes To order a copy use this email. Day In, Day Out- Vocalist Jenny Ferris and I have been making music together in various settings, from duo to quintet, since the 1980's. This is her second recording, featuring fresh and varied treatments of lyricist Johnny Mercer's most beloved material, with composers Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, and Henry Mancini. Jenny is accompanied on this CD by guitarist/arranger Tony Corman, Rich Lesnik on sax and flute, bassist Carol DeArment, drummers Tom Hassett and Bryan Bowman, and myself on piano and contributing some arrangements. Jenny's tasteful and heartfelt interpretations, and well-played, unusual arrangements (lots of surprises here!) make for very enjoyable listening. Available at CD Baby. Some MP3 samples here:

 • Laura - Mercer/Raksin
 • Too Marvelous for Words - Mercer/ Whiting
